Introduction

My version of Shrimp & Grits
I am not a food expert by any means. I am no trained chef or even an exceptional home cook.  I just enjoy good food that's not always from a cookie cutter chain restaurant. I like finding mom and pop shops, hole in the walls and on occasion the hot new "in" place to eat and be seen. Through this blog, I will share my experiences. I will visit old favorites, new favorites and new all together places.  I want to share my experience about the food, the atmosphere, the service and the restaurant overall.  Think of it as an expanded review on any of restaurant review sites out there i.e. Zomato and Yelp.  This blog pushes me out of my comfort zone and gets me to try new places/cuisines.  I hope it does the same for you.

Mom's Wonton Soup
I would like to think I'm an adventurous eater. Many say that but few are really gutsy to try it all at least once. Thanks to my parents, I was exposed to a wide range of foods at a very young age. Migrating to the U.S in the early 80s, my parents kept much our culture alive by sharing stories of their own childhood around the dinner table. From rabbit to frog; snails to gator and even fruits like durian and jackfruit, there were very few things my parents did not serve up to us kids. Some would call the food bizarre, but I just call it delicious.

I love to hear about new places.  If you know of any places you think I should try out, let me know through 'Taste Buds' Facebook page.  I have a wishlist of places to go and I would love to add to that list.

Happy Dining.
L.
